Former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer has heaped praise on India after their immensely dominant victory over Australia in the opening Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023, in Nagpur.

India beat Australia by an innings and 132 runs to go 1-0 up in the four-match Test series. The second Test will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi and will start on February 17, 2023. India wrapped things up before Tea on Day 3 of the first Test.

If just one team struggles, it’s the skills: Wasim Jaffer

“Never judge a pitch until both teams have batted on it. If both teams struggle, it’s the pitch. If just one team struggles, it’s the skills. Well played Team India," the 44-year-old took to the micro-blogging site Twitter to post a congratulatory tweet for India.

Even before the commencement of the Test series, many Australian journalists and cricketers had raised massive concerns about the Indian pitches not being very neutral to players. It had also been pointed out how the surface is heavily in favour of the hosts as compared to their counterparts.

Jaffer's tweet seems like a response to the Australians that playing quality sport should be the main focus. The Indians didn't seem to face any problems in the match, rather the Australians in both their innings didn't come up with any significant performance with the bat.

Known for his witty nature and humour, Jaffer posted another extremely hilarious tweet congratulating Ravichandran Ashwin.
