Former cricketer Vinod Kambli’s video of struggling on the streets of Mumbai went viral earlier in the week. The 52-year-old was seen getting down from a bike and following which, the pedestrians had to help him to stand straight. The video garnered tremendous attention on social media as many of the fans wanted his friend Sachin Tendulkar to help him financially to better his health.

However, Kambli recently shared an update on his health by stating that he is fine and is ready to play cricket. He was surrounded by friends and was in good spirits. In the video, Kambli claimed to be ‘fit and fine’, and expressed his desire to play at number three. He also started to hit spinners out of the ground while his friends promised to be there for him in future.

“I'm good, Marcus. By the grace of God, I am surviving. Fit and fine. Yes, (I can go to the pitch and bat). (Would bat at) number three. I'll hit (spinners) out of the ground," Kambli said in the viral video.

Kambli made his international debut in 1991 against Pakistan at Sharjah. He went on to play 104 ODI matches for the country and scored 2477 runs and also featured in 17 Test matches, scoring 1084 runs at an average of 54.20. The Mumbai-born cricketer played international cricket till 2000 after which, he played domestic cricket till 2004.

The cricketer was renounced for his flamboyant strokeplay and was considered to be one for the future in his early days but Kambli failed to justify his talent. After his retirement, he worked with MCA as a coach and also opened an academy. However, he struggled financially and in 2013, he suffered a heart attack despite undergoing angioplasty earlier. Recently, Kambli also had a conversation with his former teammate and BCCI’s general manager, Abey Kuruvilla, along with the newly appointed MCA president, Ajinkya Naik.
