Suryakumar Yadav was at his sensational best during India’s second ODI in Indore against Australia in the ongoing series. The flamboyant batter hit an unbeaten 72 off just 37 and helped India post 399 in 50 overs. Ahead of the series, the Mumbai-born batter faced a lot of criticism, with many questioning his place in the ODI set-up.
Suryakumar proved his class against the Kangaroos and with that, it is safe to say that he has cemented his spot for the upcoming ODI World Cup, which is slated to begin on October 5.
Interestingly, Australia sensation and his Mumbai Indians teammate Cameron Green was on the receiving end multiple times during Yadav’s knock as the young Aussie ended up leaking 103 runs in just 10 overs and was also hit for four consecutive sixes by Suryakumar in an over. Amid that, an old video of Green in Mumbai Indians' jersey has resurfaced. “If you are bad, SKY is my dad,” Green ican beheard saying in the clip.
Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer on song ahead of ODI World Cup
In the second ODI against Australia, both Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer hit a century each. It is a big positive for the Indian team ahead of ODI World Cup as it will give the team some much-needed confidence. After the wicket of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Gill and Iyer took control of the situation and built a partnership of 200 runs, which completely changed the complexion of the match.
Australian bowlers looked clueless as the surface was tailor-made for the batters to succeed. Notably, in the last 10 overs of the match, India registered 103 runs, which helped the team to post their highest-ever ODI total against Australia. When it came to the chase, Prasidh Krishna picked up two quick wickets which put Australia in the backfoot.
