‘Can't take cricket out of the man’ – Gautam Gambhir responds to Irfan Pathan following blistering half-century

India Maharajas skipper Gautam Gambhir responded to Irfan Pathan after the latter lavished praise on Gambhir's impressive batting exploits following a resounding win against Asia Lions. The two sides squared off in the fourth match of the league at the Asian Town Cricket Stadium in Doha on Tuesday, March 14.
Speaking about the match, openers Gambhir and Robin Uthappa hammered Asia Lions to a thumping ten-wicket win. The two made little work of Lions’ 157 as they raised an impressive 159-run partnership to effortlessly chase down the total. Following their dominating win, former India pacer Irfan Pathan heaped massive praise on Gambhir and Uthappa for their knocks.
"Bhai @GautamGambhir kya irada hai? Brilliant consistency and @robbieuthappa kuch nahi badla yaar. Same power," wrote Irfan on Twitter.
"You can take a man out of cricket but you can't take cricket out of the man....cheers brother @IrfanPathan," Gambhir responded swiftly.
Third consecutive fifty for Gautam Gambhir in LLC Masters
For the unversed, Gambhir registered his third consecutive half-century in the ongoing LLC Masters. The southpaw scored 54 runs against Asia Lions in the first match and added 68 runs in the second match against World Giants.
He further continued his purple patch as he clobbered an impressive 61* off 36 balls which included 12 boundaries against Asia Lions in the team's third game. Owing to his thundering performance, he has also come out as the leading run getter in the league with 183 runs to his name in just three appearances, at an average of 91.50.
Asia Lions were restricted to 157 runs in their stipulated 20 overs of the first innings by Gambhir’s Maharajas. What followed was sheer dominance by the openers as Gambhir and Uthappa notched up a match-winning partnership which comfortably handed them their first win of the league.
Furthermore, Uthappa was adjudged 'Player of the Match' for his unbeaten 88 runs off 39 balls. Gautam Gambhir and Co. will play their final group stage match against World Giants on Wednesday, March 15.
