Mumbai Indians (MI) players were overjoyed following their resounding win against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Eliminator of the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) on Wednesday, May 24, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, in Chennai. Rohit Sharma and company overcame LSG by a massive 81-run margin to advance to the IPL 2023 second qualifier.

The five-time champions will face the defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) in Qualifier Two on Friday, May 26, at the Narendra Modi Stadium, in Ahmedabad. Notably, GT suffered an awful 15-run defeat through the hands of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Qualifier One on May 23, in Chennai.

As MI headed off for Ahmedabad, MI posted a video on Twitter of their in-form batter, Suryakumar Yadav, playing a prank on Tilak Varma who was asleep on the flight. Suryakumar took some lemon slices from the cabin crew and decided to drip some of the juice directly into the mouth of a sleeping Tilak. The young batter woke up out of confusion and looked around only to find passengers laughing at Yadav's prank.

"Chain se sona hai toh jaag jao (If you want to sleep peacefully then wake up)," the franchise captioned the post.

Akash Madhwal starred with the ball as MI beat LSG by 81 runs

Mumbai Indians captain, Rohit Sharma, won the toss and decided to bat first. All MI batters struggled with the bat barring Cameron Green, who played a crucial knock of  41 off 23 deliveries, as the five-time champions managed to score a reasonable total of 182 runs in 20 overs. For LSG, Naveen-ul-Haq claimed a four-wicket haul while Yash Thakur claimed a three-for while Mohsin Khan picked a wicket, respectively.

During the chase, Lucknow were bundled out for 101 runs in 16.3 overs with pacer Akash Madhwal claiming a five-wicket haul and conceding just five runs in 3.3 overs. Apart from the 29-year-old pacer, Chris Jordan and Piyush Chawla picked one wicket each for the Rohit Sharma-led side as they registered a massive 81-run win.
