As IPL 2024 draws near, cricket fans have their eyes set on none other than the legendary MS Dhoni, as the cricketer gears up for what could potentially be his final dance in the prestigious league. Familiar scenes took place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, as Dhoni, the beloved captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), stepped onto the field for a practice session, igniting excitement among Chepauk fans.

Chennai, under Dhoni's leadership, clinched their fifth IPL title spectacularly in the previous season, triumphing over the Gujarat Titans in the finals. The iconic captain, who retired from international cricket in 2020, will be looking to make this season all the more special for the Yellow Army.

MS Dhoni waves back at CSK fans in Chennai

The 42-year-old's arrival in Chennai was nothing short of brilliant, with locals erupting in joy upon spotting him en route to the team's practice session on March 7th. School children, pedestrians, and office-goers alike waved cheerfully, infusing a sense of excitement into their usual routines. Dhoni, ever the crowd-pleaser, reciprocated with his trademark warm smiles and waves.

CSK's social media channels were quick to share vintage footage of Dhoni sporting his iconic long locks during batting practice. The official handle captioned the post, "The vintage hair. The classic emotion. Mahi aara hai (Dhoni is coming)," further fuelling the anticipation among the fans.

The social media platforms were sent into frenzy upon seeing the fan favourite return to the Chepauk den.

The CSK squad wasted no time in kicking off their pre-season preparations, with star players like Ruturaj Gaikwad and Deepak Chahar who joined the squad early, were seen practising along with Dhoni. As the curtain raiser of IPL 2024 approaches, all eyes will be on the clash between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore on March 22 in Chennai. Following this highly anticipated encounter, CSK will face off against formidable opponents such as Gujarat Titans, Delhi Capitals, and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
