South African women have entered the T20 World Cup 2024 wearing their hearts in their collars. In a move to commemorate the players’ loved ones’ role in their journey, Cricket South Africa decided to provide the players with an option of embossing five names of their most beloved on the collar of the new World Cup Jersey.

It is worth noting that, South Africa have never won a T20 World Cup trophy. They reached the finals of the previous edition and were outdone by the Australian side. The new jersey also holds significance to the fans of the team as the news slogan goes; “Always Rising - For Me, For Her, For Them, For All, For South Africa, For The Proteas.”

“As the ICC T20 Women’s World Cup 2024 kicks off in the United Arab Emirates, the Proteas Women are taking a heartfelt approach to stay connected with their fans with the message: “Always Rising - For Me, For Her, For Them, For All, For South Africa, For The Proteas.” The Proteas Women will not only showcase their incredible talent, but also honour the bonds that keep them grounded,” tweeted CSA.

“This powerful message acknowledges and thanks their broader community, support structures, loved ones and the South African nation for their unwavering support. The players will take the field in customised playing shirts with embroidered names of family members and close friends. A tangible reminder of home close to their hearts, even in the intensity of competition,” CSA added.

Here’s the CSA’s latest post on ‘X’:

South Africa are placed in Group B along with England, Scotland, Bangladesh, and the West Indies. They took on West Indies in the tournament opener at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on October 4.
