CSK vs MI: MS Dhoni masterminds Rohit Sharma's demise with cunning ploy
Rohit Sharma fell into MS Dhoni's trap during the clash against CSK at Chepauk.
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma succumbed to yet another low score in IPL 2023 during his side's much-anticipated clash against arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings at the Chepauk. It was his former Indian teammate MS Dhoni, who structured his demise with a smart move in the field. Rohit departed without opening his account, making it his 16th duck in the tournament, the most by any batter in IPL history.
The under-fire Mumbai Indians skipper decided to demote himself down the order in an attempt to give more freedom to star Aussie all-rounder Cameron Green at the start of the innings. However, that move backfired on the hosts after Green was sent back to the pavilion in just the second over of the match.
His opening partner Ishan Kishan became Deepak Chahar's first victim of this year's edition. But the killer blow was landed on the fifth delivery of the same over when CSK skipper MS Dhoni tempted his opposite number to go over the top after walking up to the stumps. Dhoni's plan paid immediate dividends as Rohit tried a cheeky ramp shot, only to mistime it towards Ravindra Jadeja, who accepted the catch gleefuly at backward point.
