Kohli, unfortunately, missed out on his second consecutive hundred in the tournament as he got dismissed while trying to achieve the milestone with a big heave over deep mid-wicket. However, he was caught by Glenn Phillips in the deep leaving India just five runs away from the victory on 269/6 after 47.4 overs.
The Delhi-born cricketer missed out on levelling the legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most ODI hundreds (49) by just five runs. Kohli recently scored his 48th ODI hundred against Bangladesh during India’s fourth fixture of the World Cup in Pune. With four league matches and knockout games yet to be played in the tournament, the star batter will get enough chances to surpass his idol in the ongoing cricketing extravaganza.
