CWC 2023: Indian cricket team celebrates Diwali ahead of final league match against Netherlands
Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan among others were seen donning the festive attire.
The festive vibe has taken over the entire India as the country is celebrating ‘Diwali’, the festival of lights, with their friends and family. The festivities all over the nation have been fuelled by the joy of team India’s stellar performances in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 as the Men in Blue have won eight matches on the trot.
Ahead of India’s next fixture against Netherlands on Sunday, November 12 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, several stars sent their advance Diwali wishes to fans as they shared glimpses of their vibrant celebration on social media. Captain Rohit Sharma posed with his wife Ritika Sajdeh dressed in festive attire and sent Diwali wishes to their fans all over India.
Other players such as Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammad Siraj were also spotted immersing themselves in the celebrations as they posed together wearing classy Kurtas.
India aiming to make it 9-0 against Netherlands
The fans are hoping that the Men in Blue will further brighten up their Diwali with fireworks of their bat and ball against the Netherlands. Notably, India have been on a dominant run in the ongoing tournament as they find themselves on the top of the points table with eight wins from as many matches having 16 points to their name.
The Rohit Sharma-led side will look to extend their winning run to nine matches by crushing the Dutch and go into the semi-finals with a clean sheet. India will be taking on their old nemesis New Zealand in the first semi final on Wednesday, November 15 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Hence, they will look to fix their remaining areas of concern ahead of the semis and go into the knockouts as the team to beat.

On the other hand, the Netherlands will also be keen to end their campaign on a high by defeating the hosts. The Scott Edwards-led side stunned South Africa in their third fixture beating them by 38 runs. Hence, they will look to script another upset in the tournament and end their campaign on a winning note.
