Australia's batting megastar David Warner has wished his Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper Rishabh Pant a speedy recovery after the latter had met with a horrific car crash on the early morning of Friday, December 30 on the Delhi-Dehradun highway.

Pant was first taken to a local hospital in Roorkee for an immediate checkup after which he was admitted to the Max Hospital in Dehradun.

Notably, the 25-year-old was rested for the ongoing home white-ball series against Sri Lanka as a part of the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) workload management plan.

David Warner comes up with a heartwarming message for Rishabh Pant

Taking to his official Instagram handle, David Warner posted an image of him and Rishabh Pant from an IPL 2022 fixture. In that pic, Warner can be seen enacting Tollywood superstar Allu Arjun’s signature move from his blockbuster movie Pushpa and Rishabh Pant also seemingly tries to imitate the same.

Delhi Capitals blew hot and cold in the last season and eventually finished on the fifth position. Warner was one of DC’s major retentions for the 2023 season and it remains to be seen whether the team management has any plans to name him their captain this time around or not if Pant fails to recover ahead of the season.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Pant could be ruled out for the next six months due to a ligament tear that he sustained from the near-fatal car accident. If that happens then the southpaw will miss the entire season of this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL).

The wicketkeeper-batter was airlifted from Dehradun to Mumbai on Wednesday, January 4 and has been admitted in a hospital in Mumbai.

Thus, he might not be in a position to make the cut for the next month’s Border-Gavaskar Trophy at home against Australia either, and the selectors are expected to zero in on the likes of youngster Ishan Kishan or KS Bharath.
