David Warner's stolen iconic baggy green recovered

In a recent development, David Warner's lost baggy green, which he had announced missing in transit between Melbourne and Sydney ahead of his final Test, has been located after four days.

The backpack, which contained two caps including Warner's original from his Test debut in 2011, was found at the team hotel in Sydney. However, it remains unclear how it got there. On Friday morning, Warner posted a video on social media holding his original baggy green and thanked all those involved in finding it. He expressed his gratitude to Qantas, the freight company, hotels, and team management.

"Hi everyone, I am very pleased and relieved to let you all know that my baggy greens have been found, which is great news. Thanks to all involved and I am extremely grateful. Qantas, the freight company, our hotels and team management. Thanks [sic] you," he wrote alongside the video.

"Any cricketer knows how special their cap is and I will cherish this for the rest of my life," he further added.

Notably, earlier David Warner had announced that his baggy green and another cap were missing in transit between Melbourne and Sydney before his final Test. He had mentioned that there would be no consequences if the backpack was returned by whoever may have taken it. In the meantime, Warner used a loaned cap from Cricket Australia for photoshoots before the opening day of the Test.

"The bag in which they were packed was found at the team hotel, with all the contents inside. The movements of the missing bag are unknown despite extensive searches and the review of CCTV footage at multiple locations and the efforts of numerous parties since Tuesday,” a Cricket Australia spokesperson was quoted as saying by ESPN Cricinfo.

Speaking about the retrieval of the baggy green, Nick Hockley, the CEO of Cricket Australia, mentioned that it's a huge relief David's cap has been located, and he extends a big thank you to everyone who was involved in the search.

Coming to the ongoing final Test of the series in Sydney, David Warner scored 34 runs off 68 balls, including four fours, in the first innings of his farewell Test match. Unfortunately, his innings came to an end, falling prey to the off-spin of Agha Salman. Looking ahead, Warner is undoubtedly keen to wrap up his illustrious Test cricket career with a remarkable performance in the second innings. Fans are equally hopeful to witness their cricket hero play a significant innings one last time in the Australian whites.
