The 16th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 featured a fiery clash between the David Warner-led Delhi Capitals and the five-time champions Mumbai Indians at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday, April 11.

Mumbai Indians put in a decent bowling performance in the first innings, however, their fielding has been questionable. In the 17th over of the game, as Axar Patel and David Warner attempted to propel Delhi to a respectable total, the Indian all-rounder muscled a delivery bowled by Jason Behrendorff onto long-on, and despite Suryakumar Yadav being present to catch the ball, the star Indian batter dropped the catch.

Surya attempted to grab the catch, but he ended up parrying the ball over the boundary line. The 32-year-old was hit on the head in the process, and the physio rushed onto the pitch to check him for a concussion. He was taken off the field before the game eventually resumed.

Suryakumar Yadav is badly injured 💔 while trying to catch a six on boundary that was hit too hard by Axar Patel. He couldn't see the ball clearly due to straight light. 🕯️ #SuryakumarYadav #DCvsMI #axarpatel

David Warner and Axar Patel power Delhi Capitals to competitive total

Delhi Capitals skipper David Warner continued his excellent form at the IPL 2023. The ace Australian batter amassed 51 runs in a high-pressure situation as wickets kept falling at the other end. However, he did find a dependable batting partner in the man-in-form Axar Patel.

While Warner showed resilience, Axar scored an explosive half-century. The Indian all-rounder was finally dismissed by Jason Behrendorff after having amassed 54 runs in just 25 deliveries. As both Axar and Warner looked set on the field, Behrendorff bowled a fantastic over that helped MI limit Delhi to a score of 172 runs.

In the three overs he bowled, Behrendorff took three wickets and conceded 23 runs in the process. Piyush Chawla, too, had a sensational outing for the five-time champions, taking three wickets in four overs while conceding just 22 runs.
