Delhi Capitals hosted the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 50th match of the IPL 2023 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on May 6, 2023. RCB had a decent outing in the first innings as they posted a total of 181 runs, thanks to half-centuries from Virat Kohli and Mahipal Lomror.
But an incident in the second innings grabbed eyeballs, when Mohammed Siraj was involved in a verbal fight with Delhi Capitals' openers Philip Salt and David Warner. After being hit for two sixes and a four in the first three deliveries of the fifth over, Siraj bowled a wide ball. That's when Salt was seen saying something to Siraj, which triggered the pacer and the three got into an argument.
Things looked very heated between the two players, and it is likely that a fine will be imposed on the players for their actions. In such cases, the players typically face a fine of some percentage of their match fee for breaching the IPL code of conduct.
Speaking of the game, Delhi Capitals got off to a brilliant start to the chase as openers Warner and Salt stiched up a 60-run stand within the powerplay, before the skipper was sent packing by Josh Hazlewood. Warner scored 22 runs off 14 deliveries, which included three fours and one six.
Mitchell Marsh was phenomenal with both the bat and the ball as after picking up two consecutive wickets in the first innings, he played a handy knock helping his side during the chase. Marsh's victims included RCB skipper Faf du Plessis and top-order batter Glenn Maxwell as he registered figures of 2/21 in the three overs that he bowled in the game.
