Former India captain MS Dhoni recently celebrated his 42nd birthday on July 7, 2023. Wishes poured in for Captain Cool from the entire cricketing fraternity as fans expressed their love for the legendary cricketer across the globe. Recently, Dhoni revealed an interesting fact about his CSK teammate and India cricketer Deepak Chahar.

Dhoni revealed that the right-arm seamer is like a drug and both his presence and absence make you question him.

"Deepak Chahar is like a drug, if he is not there, you would think, where is he - if he is around, you would think, why he is here - good part is that he is maturing but he takes time & that is the problem, in my lifetime, I won't see him matured (smiles),” said Dhoni.

Mahi revealed that the right-arm seamer is like a drug and both his presence and absence make you question him. During the audio launch of Dhoni Entertainment's 'LGM', the CSK skipper revealed the camaraderie he shares with Chahar.

"Deepak Chahar is like a drug, if he is not there, you would think, where is he - if he is around, you would think, why he is here - good part is that he is maturing but he takes time & that is the problem, in my lifetime, I won't see him matured (smiles),” Dhoni further stated.

Deepak Chahar did not make the cut for India's tour of West Indies

Pacer Deepak Chahar had a good season in the IPL 2023 as he picked up 13 wickets in ten matches at an average of 22.84 and an economy of 8.73. The 30-year-old made a great comeback in the season after getting injured in just the third game against Mumbai Indians.

Despite a good show in the T20 extravaganza, Chahar failed to find a place in the Indian squad for the West Indies tour in any of the formats. The Uttar Pradesh-born seamer has had a long history of injuries due to which he has been in and out of the team. He missed the entire IPL 2022 and was in contention to get picked for the T20 World Cup 2022. However, much to Chahar’s dismay, he missed out on the tournament.

With the ODI World Cup 2023 scheduled to take place in India from October 5, Chahar will be desperate for a chance to make a strong case for his selection in the team for the mega event.
