Deepti Sharma appointed as Deputy Superintendent of Police in Uttar Pradesh

Star Indian women's all-rounder Deepti Sharma has achieved another milestone in sports and her aspirations. The Agra-born, who has been performing consistently for the national team, was officially appointed as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Uttar Pradesh. The state government presented this honor upon her in recognition of her contributions to Indian cricket.

Deepti’s childhood dream of serving in the police force came true as she was presented with her DSP uniform in Moradabad on January 27, 2025. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath personally handed over her appointment letter in a special ceremony in 2024. Along with the prestigious post, she was also rewarded with a cash prize of INR 3 crore by the Uttar Pradesh government.

At the ceremony in Moradabad, Deepti’s family, including her father Bhagwan Sharma, and brothers Sumit and Prashant Sharma, were present to witness her proud moment.

"I'm overwhelmed with gratitude as I achieve this milestone! I'd like to extend my heartfelt thanks to my family, whose unwavering support and blessings have been my driving force. I'm also grateful to the Uttar Pradesh Government for this opportunity to serve. As I take on this new role as DSP in the Uttar Pradesh Police, I promise to dedicate myself fully to my duties and serve with integrity. Deepti Sharma ended 2024 as India's leading wicket-taker in ODIs

The 27-year-old has been part of the Indian team for over a decade, playing a crucial role in Women in Blue's silver medal-winning campaign at the 2023 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. She was named in the ICC Women’s T20I Team of the Year 2024 alongside Smriti Mandhana and Richa Ghosh.

Meanwhile, she ended 2024 on a high note as the leading wicket-taker in women’s ODIs with 24 scalps, also taking 30 wickets in T20Is. With the Women’s Premier League (WPL) around the corner, Deepti will continue to don the jersey of UP Warriorz, hoping to make a significant impact.
