The cheerful crowd of the Wankhede Stadium had to be silent as the Mumbai Indians (MI) had one of their worst IPL seasons in the tournament's history. The five-time champions, who once dominated in the IPL, found themselves at the bottom of the table with just four wins from 14 matches under new skipper Hardik Pandya.

The forgettable campaign left the MI owners incredibly disappointed. After the final league game loss against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Friday, a dejected Nita Ambani addressed the dressing room. She was firm with her words while addressing MI's horror run.

“Disappointing season for all of us. Things didn't go the way we wanted them to, but I'm still a huge Mumbai Indians fan. Not just an owner. I think wearing the Mumbai Indians jersey is a huge honor and a privilege, and to be associated with Mumbai Indians, for me, is an honor and a privilege. I think we will go back, review, and think about it," Ambani said in a video posted on Mumbai Indian's social media handle.

All Indians are cheering for you: Nita Ambani

The Mumbai-based franchise had taken a tough decision to remove Rohit Sharma from captaincy after nine years. The opener was expected to play freely without the added burden of leadership.

Pandya who was fresh from leading Gujarat Titans to the title in their inaugural season in 2022, was appointed as MI's new captain ahead of the season. However, Pandya's captaincy was criticised with MI's every passing game.

Ambani lauded the privilege of donning the MI jersey and wished the Indian contingent well for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and the USA.

"To Rohit, Hardik, Surya (Suryakumar Yadav) and (Jasprit) Bumrah, all Indians are cheering for you. We wish you all the best," she added.

Her message hinted at the potential restructuring on the cards. With the mega auction in 2025, tough decisions await the Mumbai think-tank. Rohit's future with the franchise looks uncertain, while Hardik's captaincy is also under scrutiny.
