‘Disappointing’ - Stuart Broad takes hilarious dig at Australian media over ‘No.1 Villain’ tweet on Ollie Robinson

England seasoned pacer Stuart Broad aimed a hilarious dig at the Australian media over a tweet claiming Ollie Robinson as the ‘No.1 Villain’ following a loss in the first Ashes Test at Edgbaston in Birmingham.

Notably, seamer Ollie Robinson was caught up in a bizarre moment during the second innings of the first Test when he decided to give Usman Khawaja an ugly send-off. Despite the Aussie southpaw scoring a magnificent 141 runs, Robinson was seen pumped up with the dismissal and used quite a few distasteful words during the send-off. 

Following the loss, the Australian media swiftly taunted the pacer, terming him as the ‘No. 1 Villain’, who embraced his fate following the nasty send-off to Khawaja. On that note, Broad decided to take a jibe at the Australian media and expressed his disappointment in a rather hilarious tweet.

“No. 1 villain Ollie Robinson has learned his fate over an expletive-laden send-off for Usman Khawaja,” tweeted Fox Cricket.

“No1 Villain?!” I can’t have lost that tag already can I?! Disappointing,” responded Broad.

For the unversed, Broad was regarded as the ‘public enemy’ in 2013 by the Australian press during the first Ashes Test. Notably, the incident surfaced when Broad refused to walk off the pitch after edging a delivery off Nathan Lyon. Following the incident, the pacer was widely criticised for his antics by the media.

Speaking about the ongoing Ashes series, Pat Cummins’ Australia won in a dramatic fashion on the final day with just two wickets remaining. It was skipper Cummins who played a delicate knock of an unbeaten 73-ball 44 to steer his side to a famous win at Edgbaston.

Usman Khawaja was adjudged Player of the Match for his 141 runs and a second innings score of 65. As the Aussies took a 1-0 lead in the five-match series, the Three Lions will look to get back on level terms in the second Test, which is scheduled to begin on June 28.
