'Easiest batter to dismiss'- Mitchell Johnson's trolling remarks for Virat Kohli go viral

Former Australia fast bowler Mitchell Johnson is making headlines for his distasteful comments about his former Australia teammate David Warner. Notably, the opening batter will be playing his last Test series of his career against Pakistan beginning from December 14. Ahead of the three-match affair, Johnson stated that Warner doesn’t deserve a farewell series as he brought the game into disrepute with his involvement in the infamous sandpaper gate scandal during the Cape Town Test in 2018.

Recently, some more comments from Johnson have surfaced online where he’s called star India batter Virat Kohli his ‘easiest batter to dismiss’. In another comment, when being asked from a fan if he remembers Kohli, he replied ‘Who?’. The left-arm seamer had also replied to a fan who had mentioned that Kohli has the best cover drive and wrote in reply ‘and best nick behind also, the cover drive is up there though’.

All these comments were found on a photograph uploaded by Johnson on his Instagram handle on November 18, 2023. In the photograph, the former Australia cricketer is seen looking outside a window flaunting his ponytail through a side profile and with a caption What a day #grateful.’

Ever since Johnson’s unprofessional comments for Kohli have come to light, several Indian fans have flooded his comment section with images and GIFs of the Indian batter having a verbal spat with him during the 2014-15 Border Gavaskar Trophy.

Notably, Kohli was seen in imperious form during the 2014-15 Australia vs India four-match Test series as he finished as the second-highest run-scorer of the series with 692 runs to his name from eight innings at an average of 86.50 with four hundreds and one fifty to his name.

Kohli and Johnson had a great battle during the entire series which included a heated verbal spat in the third Test in Melbourne. The Australian seamer bowled 157 balls to Kohli across four Tests and leaked 145 runs dismissing him thrice. However, a few months later Johnson got the better of the Indian batting star by dismissing him for just 1 (13) in the all-important semi-final of the ODI World Cup 2015 and sealed a win for his side.
