The Hundred Women 2023: Sophie Ecclestone takes catch of her own bowling to send Phoebe Litchfield packing
Northern Superchargers skipper Hollie Armitage won the toss and opted to bat first.
The 18th match of The Hundred Women's competition is witnessing the clash between Northern Superchargers and Manchester Originals at the Headingley Stadium in Leeds on Sunday, August 13.
Manchester Originals' bowler Sophie Ecclestone took a stunning catch of her own bowling to dismiss Superchargers' batter Phoebe Litchfield when they were 84/2. The batter advanced and met a drive powerfully but it went straight and Ecclestone comfortably completed the catch. The Manchester skipper got both hands up and turned with the momentum of the ball. It was a brilliant piece of fielding from Eccelstone who showcased great reaction speed to bag the catch.
The Hundred took to its official Instagram handle and shared the video of Ecclestone taking the catch and captioned it, “Caught and bowled by one of the best in the business.”

Northern Superchargers win toss, opt to bat first
Talking of the game, Northern Superchargers skipper Hollie Armitage won the toss and opted to bat first. Superchargers set a 134-run target for Sophie Ecclestone and Co. Mahika Gaur, Kathryn Bryce, Fi Morris, and Ecclestone have picked up one wicket each for the Originals. Phoebe Litchfield top-scored for Superchargers, scoring 39 off 29 deliveries which included six boundaries.
Manchester Originals' openers Emma Lamb and Laura Wolvaardt have made a solid start for their side. However, Northern Superchargers got an early breakthrough as Grace Ballinger ran out Wolvaardt for a paltry score of five runs. Moreover, Lamb continued her momentum as Originals were 57/4 after 50 balls.
Northern Superchargers and Manchester Originals are currently standing in third and fourth place, respectively. Superchargers have won three of their four games so far this season. Originals, on the other hand, have won one and lost one match in the ongoing season. Their first two-game against Welsh Fire and London Spirit were abandoned due to rain.
