'Extremely excited' - Gautam Gambhir on his return to Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2024

Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir engaged in an insightful '#AskGG' session on the popular micro-blogging platform 'X'. Cricket enthusiasts and fans of Gambhir flooded the platform with a barrage of questions. The session provided a unique opportunity for fans to interact directly with the two-time World Cup winner, addressing various aspects of his illustrious career, including personal experience. The opening batter, who is known for his straightforward and candid responses, did not disappoint the fans as he shared valuable opinions during the session.

The 42-year-old is all set to make a comeback to his previous Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders in the upcoming season of the lucrative league as the team mentor. Under his captaincy, KKR won their first title in 2012 by defeating  Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by five wickets at their home ground, MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. He led the KKR to their second title in 2014 by beating Kings XI Punjab (currently Punjab Kings) by three wickets.

Speaking about his excitement at his reunion with KKR and his bond with Shah Rukh Khan, the former cricketer stated that, "Isn’t it obvious. He is family & KKR is an emotion for me. Extremely excited!" When a fan asked him which bowler bothered him the most in the interim, he replied, "One & only Muttiah Muralitharan." In yet another response to a question regarding the renowned Indian all-rounder and his former teammate, Yuvraj Singh, the 42-year-old called him as the "Ultimate match-winner!" 

Gambhir frequently becomes the subject of discussions due to his penchant for making controversial statements. A curious fan finds it hard to resist asking the former cricketer about the reasons behind his consistent delivery of controversial remarks. Significantly, the cricketer has responded with an intriguing answer to that particular query. "I say what I feel. You should think who benefits from the controversies!" he said.
