Ishan Kishan orchestrated a narrow two-wicket win for Jharkhand against Madhya Pradesh in the Buchi Babu tournament with impressive batting performances in both innings.

In the first innings, Kishan, making his long-awaited red-ball comeback, smashed a scintillating 107 off just 114 balls. He took just 86 balls to reach the three-figure mark. In the second innings, the wicketkeeper-batter put his hand up once again to take his team to victory by scoring an unbeaten 41.

Jharkhand needed 12 runs to win with two wickets in the bank. Kishan hit two sixes off three balls against left-arm spinner Akash Rajawat to take his side home. He hit a slog sweep to wrap up the proceedings in style.

BCCI snubbed Kishan, Iyer from central contracts for skipping domestic cricket

Notably, Ishan Kishan is also expected to make a comeback in the upcoming Ranji Trophy. His last appearance in first-class cricket came way back in December 2022. His decision to skip last year's Ranji Trophy cost him a central contract with the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India). Besides, Shreyas Iyer was another player who was snubbed when the central contracts list was announced by the Indian board, made his national team comeback earlier this month against Sri Lanka.

Kishan will also want to make his way back to the Indian team with consistent performances for Jharkhand in the domestic circuit. His emphatic return for Jharkhand should give him a lot of confidence going forward. The 26-year-old has played two Tests, 27 ODIs, and 32 T20Is for the Men in Blue. His last international appearance came against Australia during the five-match T20I series in 2023.

The southpaw averages 78 in Tests, 42.41 in ODIs, and 25.68 in T20Is. He also has a double century to his name in ODI cricket, which came against Bangladesh in 2022. The next few months will be very crucial for Kishan as he hopes to get back into the national team.
