Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) became the champions of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) as they outclassed Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the grand final on Sunday, May 26. KKR players were ecstatic as they strolled all over the field and the celebrations carried on into the dressing room. While in the dressing room, Sunil Narine and Andre Russell were reminded of a light-hearted conversation they had with a Bangladeshi reporter during the Bangladesh Premier League.
The incident became an instant hit on social media as the regional language reporter tried to communicate with the Caribbeans but framed the sentence colloquially. Russell and Narine could not gauge the question and reciprocation was minimal. After KKR won the final, the duo was asked the now-famous lines, and the dressing room was filled with a hearty laugh.
“Final Match you perform, what happening,” the reporter had questioned citing Russell and Narine’s subpar performance for Comilla Victorians in the BPL final.

I think mom will be watching: Rahmanullah Gurbaz
KKR lost the services of English player Phil Salt as he left the league mid-way due to national commitment. The fiery batter was replaced by Afghanistan’s Rahmanullah Gurbaz and the wicket-keeper batter impressed everyone with his glove-work. He opened the inning for KKR and held onto one end after Narine departed. It came to light that the cricketer's mother was not keeping well ahead of the game and he exhibited a 39-run knock in the final.

“[on how his mom is doing] I think she will be watching, she is OK now. Before the match I spoke to my mom - I asked what do you want? she said, nothing just win. Salty played really well and my expectation as the World Cup was coming, I wanted to prepare, also I had to be ready if Salty got injured, I got it and I was well prepared. Twice I'm champion of IPL, I'm lucky. When you work hard for 2 months and the result, when it comes like this is special,” said Gurbaz after the game.
