The Indian Premier League (IPL) is one of the most anticipated cricketing events of the year. With the 2024 edition just around the corner, former Indian wicketkeeper and Mumbai Indians scout, Parthiv Patel, has stirred up a controversy with his recent tweet. In a sarcastic jibe, Patel commented on the sudden availability of players who had previously declared themselves unfit for international duties.
Patel's tweet, which read "so good to see everyone fit and available.. #IPL2024," seemed to take a dig at several high-profile cricketers who had missed significant portions of the international season due to injuries or mental fatigue.

Among those he indirectly targeted the Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya, Lucknow Super Giants skipper KL Rahul, Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Shreyas Iyer, and Ishan Kishan.
Hardik Pandya, the star all-rounder and Mumbai Indians captain, was sidelined from competitive cricket since October 2023, after sustaining an ankle injury during the ODI World Cup against Bangladesh.
KL Rahul has had a history of injuries, missing significant portions of his career, including the India vs England Test series last year due to an injury sustained during the tour.
Shreyas Iyer, also fell victim to injury during the England series. Ishan Kishan, on the other hand, cited mental fatigue as the reason for his absence from the international circuit, only to declare himself fit for the upcoming IPL season.

Former pace bowler Praveen Kumar had previously voiced similar concerns, suggesting that the IPL has become a priority for many players, overshadowing their commitment to the national team for earning big cheques in the cash-rich league.
Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings will play the opening game of IPL 2024 on March 22 in Chennai.
