'Greatest of all time' - Netizens salute Virat Kohli after latter snaps century drought on foreign soil in scintillating fashion

India ended Day 1 at 288/4 in the second Test against the West Indies in Trinidad. Virat Kohli was just 13 runs short of his 29th Test century and 76th overall in international cricket. Sleeping must have been difficult for Kohli's fans as he was approaching his first overseas Test century in over four years.
The 34-year-old began Day 3 on a cautious note but didn't forget to take sharp singles and doubles alongside Ravindra Jadeja. He hit his first four of the day in the 88th over when he flicked Kemar Roach for a boundary to get to 94. Three runs later, the Delhi batter played a picturesque square drive for four off Shannon Gabriel to get to the three-figure mark. Kohli tied the legendary Sir Don Bradman with 29 Test hundreds.
The right-handed batter hit ten fours en route to his hundred that came off 180 balls. Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal once again got their team off to a great start. They stitched together a 139-run opening partnership, but once they departed, Shubman Gill and Ajinkya Rahane also followed in quick succession. Team India were in a tricky spot at 182/4 on Day 1, but the solid partnership between Kohli and Jadeja ensured that India stay well on course for a big first-inning score.
India cross 300-run mark
Ravindra Jadeja registered his half-century in the same over where Kohli achieved his milestone. India have already crossed the 300-run mark and with six wickets still left, the tourists won't mind putting up a score that sees them bat only once in the match. Incidentally, Kohli is playing his 500th international game. This hundred will make the achievement even sweeter.
After winning the first Test by an innings and 141 runs, India will be aiming to win the second Test and pick up full points from the series, which is the first for Rohit Sharma's men in the 2023-2025 World Test Championship cycle.
