The Additional Chief Secretary of the Gujarat government, Mukesh Puri, lauded Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni for winning his fifth Indian Premier League title. Notably, on the night of the finals, the MS Dhoni-led side managed to defeat Gujarat Titans by five wickets (DLS method) in order to bag another title in their kitty.

In a Twitter post, Puri also invited the former India international to visit the Statue of Unity, which is close to the city of Surat.

“Congratulated the world's most successful captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni on his 5th IPL title, invited him to come and explore the Statue of Unity - The world's tallest statue,” Puri posted.

Dhoni undergoes successful knee surgery in Mumbai

The legendary cricketer played IPL 2023 with a knee injury, and several reports initially stated that the 41-year-old may miss several games because of the same. However, he continued playing with an injury, and only after the completion of the tournament the cricketer went ahead for knee surgery.

“Yes, Dhoni has had a successful knee surgery at the Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai on Thursday. He is doing fine and the surgery happened in the morning. I don't have details. I am yet to get all the details about the nature of surgery and other things,” CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

“He has already been discharged from hospital, and he has gone back to Ranchi. He would be resting for a few days at home before his extensive rehabilitation starts. It is now expected that he would have enough time to get fit to play in the next IPL,” a CSK source was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, based on his recovery, the cricketer will take a call on whether he will play the next edition of the IPL or not. Even though he is planning to return back next year but a lot will depend on how his body progresses.
