Former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh took to his social media handle to laud Australia and England for producing a blockbuster Ashes series. Notably, the series concluded with both teams ending on level terms 2-2, following England’s win in the fifth Test at the Oval after Australia retained the Ashes.

Impressively, each of the five matches witnessed numerous twists and high-voltage action. While four of the five matches produced a result, the fourth Test was drawn after persistent showers at Old Trafford in Manchester on the final day. Meanwhile, Harbhajan lavished praise on the two teams for producing magnificent games.

“#Ashes Absolutely Brilliant..This is what called Test cricket. All 5 test matches great cricket, crowd. Went on to the 5th day .. well done AUS/ ENG the real promoter of this format and setting the right example how this format can be saved,” Harbhajan shared on his ‘X’ handle.

Australia’s batting collapse leads to England’s win

Speaking about the fifth and final Test, the Aussies began Day 5 with an overnight score of 135 runs, required 249 to clinch the series. However, Chris Woakes had other ideas as he dented Australia’s chase by getting a four-wicket haul, including the scalps of David Warner, Usman Khawaja and Steve Smith.

Smith and Travis Head raised a solid 95-run stand, however, soon after their dismissals the Aussies endured a dramatic collapse as England took complete control of the contest. Stuart Broad fittingly claimed the final scalp of the contest, drawing curtains on his illustrious career in international cricket with a tally of 604 wickets. England eventually restricted Australia to 334 to win by 49 runs, levelling the series 2-2.
