Noted cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle was impressed with Tanveer Sangha's spell during the Big Bash League (BBL) clash between Sydney Thunder and Perth Scorchers on Monday, January 8 in Sydney. The Thunder leg-spinner conceded merely 14 runs in his four-over quota at an impressive economy rate of 3.50.

Bhogle, who was part of the commentary panel during the BBL game, was left impressed by the 22-year-old's bowling spell and backed him to play for Australia's Test side. Sangha, who has his roots in Jalandhar, India, has played for Australia in white-ball cricket and is yet to receive a call-up. He was included in the 2023 ODI World Cup squad but did not get a chance to play in the marquee event.

"Send him out to play red ball cricket, he can bowl!" Bhogle was heard saying during the commentary.

Perth Scorchers beat Sydney Thunder by seven wickets

In the game, Perth Scorchers won the toss and invited Sydney Thunder to bat. Cooper Connolly and Ashton Agar were instrumental for the visiting side, finishing with figures of 3/25 and 2/6, respectively. Meanwhile, for Sydney, Alex Hales hit a quickfire 55-ball 72 to help his side post a mere total of 137 when all other batters struggled in front of the opposition's bowling attack. His knock was studded with four boundaries and five maximums.

The Scorchers' opener Zak Crawley scored a half-century as they successfully chased down the below-par target with five balls to spare. The English cricketer smashed 58 off 56 deliveries, featuring eight fours. For the Thunder, Nathan McAndrew grabbed two wickets while captain Chris Green made one scalp.

The Aaron Hardie-led side are currently holding the second position with 11 points behind table toppers Brisbane Heat. The Thunder, on the other hand, did not stand out so far in the tournament, and are second from the bottom of the points table, having a solitary win from seven games.
