Prominent commentator Harsha Bhogle faced a social media backlash when he inadvertently mentioned Scotland instead of Netherlands while applauding the Dutch team's impressive triumph over South Africa in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. A user on his 'X' handle humorously jabbed at Harsha, asking, "Kaun sa charash phukte ho Bhogle saab (Which greens do you smoke?)" in a light-hearted jest.

While the commentator edited his post, he couldn't prevent netizens from noticing his error. Faced with a barrage of online criticism, Harsha Bhogle graciously acknowledged his mistake. In response to the user, he wrote, "Ghalati hui. Buraai to nahi ki kisiki, mazaak to nahi udaaya. Ekhaad din aap se bhi ho sakti hai, shaayad...... hopefully baghair kuch cheez phoonke.....Relax" which translates to "It was a mistake. I didn't criticise anyone, didn't make fun of anyone. It can happen to you as well, hopefully without smoking anything... Relax."
Harsha Bhogle missed presenting India versus Pakistan clash due to Dengue fever
Just ahead of the highly anticipated India versus Pakistan showdown, the Indian sportscaster revealed that he had contracted dengue fever. Regrettably, this illness prevented him from joining the commentary panel during the thrilling World Cup clash between the two arch-rivals on Saturday. Taking to his official social media platform, the broadcaster announced his absence from the high-stakes match due to the effects of dengue, which had left him weakened and with reduced immunity.
'The Voice of Cricket' extended his gratitude to his fellow colleagues and the broadcast team for shouldering additional responsibilities in his absence due to illness, which forced him to step back during the latter part of the India vs Australia match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Upon rejoining the commentary crew, Bhogle expressed optimism about his recovery and the possibility of making a comeback in time for India's upcoming match against Bangladesh on October 19.
