'He actually knows my name' - Shreyanka Patil elated after Virat Kohli compliments her personally post WPL success
RCB-W's Shreyanka Patil took to X to share how she felt after meeting Virat Kohli.
Other than the fact that 21-year-old Shreyanka Patil made history by becoming the first Indian cricketer to be offered a contract in an overseas league before making her international debut and taking the most wickets in the 2023 edition of the WCPL, she also made history by etching her name in the history books by earning the Purple Cap in the 2024 edition of the WPL, by scalping 13 wickets in eight innings at an average of 12.07 while having an economy rate of 7.30, which led her franchise to win its debut trophy in the WPL.
RCB's Unbox Event which took place at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on March 19, was an occasion which was filled with mirth and good vibes; with the men's team giving a guard of honour for winning the franchise's debut trophy, the women's team doing a lap around the ground with the trophy, RCB's new jersey for IPL 2024 getting unveiled to one and all, and R. Vinay Kumar being inducted to RCB's Hall of Fame.

Amidst all this, the women's team had an opportunity to bond with their male counterparts, with the young Bengaluru-born off-spinner meeting Indian cricketing icon Virat Kohli, and also managing to click a lovely picture with him, In the picture, Kohli appeared in the new jersey of RCB, while Shreyanka donned the black-colored T-shirt, which had WPL CHAMPIONS 2024 embossed on it.
In her heartfelt tweet which she made one day after the dazzling spectacle, Shreyanka mentioned that Kohli was the person because of whom she started watching cricket, and that she spent her entire childhood growing up aspiring to become like him. She also mentioned meeting Kohli to be the "moment of her life", and stated that Kohli complimented her for how she bowled throughout the recently-concluded tournament, adding to her amazement.
RCB all set to take on CSK in IPL 2024 opener
The curtain-raiser of the seventeenth edition of the IPL will witness an enthralling fixture on March 22 in which the star-studded RCB will lock horns with five-time champions CSK at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
