Former South Africa interantional Herschelle Gibbs does not want captain Aiden Markram to feature in the final two T20I matches against India. Notably, the 30-year-old has scored only eight and three runs in the first two games of the series and following which, Gibbs feels that he should sit out and become the 12th member of the team.
Gibbs took it to X to make the statement. On November 13, he first mentioned that India should be disappointed for not making it 2-0 in Gqeberha and noted that the next two games in Centurion and Johannesburg could be high-scoring affairs. He also added that the series can swing in any direction in the last two games.

An X user asked Gibbs about South Africa’s ideal top six and while answering that, the 50-year-old mentioned his wish to see Markram out. Notably, the Proteas captain has not hit a half-century in the last 26 games. However, he has led the team to the T20 World Cup final, for which he received immense appreciation.

Notably, India spinner Varun Chakravarthy got the better of Markram in the second T20I. Previously, the pacers troubled him as the cricketer looked extremely unsettled. Even in the game T20I, he looked uncomfortable against Arshdeep Singh, who eventually dismissed him.
Meanwhile, the visitors will be looking to take a lead in the series in the third T20I. The batting unit failed to live up to the potential in the second game as they posted 124 runs in the first innings. The bowlers, particularly the spin duo of Chakravarthy and Ravi Bishnoi, picked up six wickets between tem.
