'Held Jasprit Bumrah first in my arms after he was born' - Journalist Deepal shares heartwarming story from past about Indian pacer
"From an obscure area and school in Ahmedabad, Bumrah has made all of us proud," said Deepal.
Celebrations are running amok across the country after India’s title win at the 2024 T20 World Cup. Defeating South Africa in the summit clash of the tournament, the Men in Blue realized their collective dream and lifted the T20 World Cup for the first time since 2007.
There were many stars in the Indian team, who helped the side win games and eventually the tournament. However, one of the best performers for the team in the tournament has been ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah. Regarded as one of the best bowlers in world cricket, Bumrah showcased his prowess time and time again in the World Cup and won India the game against South Africa as well.
Meanwhile, a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) made by senior journalist Deepal Trivedi has been going viral. Deepal wrote a heartwarming note on Bumrah’s journey. She started her post after she mentioned holding a thin and weak baby, Bumrah. She talked about how close she was to Bumrah’s household and saw the family grow up.
“Think of Jasprit Bumrah. His struggles. And how God has helped him. God will help all of us, but first we have to help ourselves. Please join me in congratulating my baby, Jasprit Bumrah. For World Cup victory,” Deepal Trivedi tweeted.
“From an obscure area and school in Ahmedabad, he has made all of us proud. I thank his mother Daljit & sister Juhika talented for shaping him up as a World Champion. His wife Sanjana is ofc his soul. Sorry Jasprit,I didn't watch the match but I love you!” she added.
Bumrah was influential in India defeating South Africa
As South Africa came out to chase down a target of 177 runs, the side got very close to the target at one point of the game. Heinrich Klaasen’s heroics had reduced the game to one run per ball at one point. However, after Bumrah was handed the 18th over to bowl, the match was turned on its head.
Dismissing Marco Jansen, Bumrah put the pressure pack onto the Proteas and helped win the game for India eventually.
