Former South Africa cricketer Herschelle Gibbs came forward with a scathing review of England batter Zak Crawley’s recent performances. Branding him as an average batter who struggles on pitches with a bit of seam movement.
It is worth noting that Crawley’s place in the squad was under threat in 2022, but he was shown faith by Test head coach Brendon McCullum and skipper Ben Stokes, which helped him perform brilliantly under the Bazball ideology. Gibbs’ comments about Crawley came after a user on X (formerly known as Twitter) came forward to talk of the star batter’s turnaround in form in recent months, but Gibbs disagreed with the fan.
"On wickets that do a bit he’s (Crawley) bang average mate.. actually defends balls that are missing 5th stump,” Gibbs tweeted on his 'X' handle.
Interestingly enough, another user came forward to join the discussion and highlighted the centuries that Crawley had hit in recent times, but Gibbs was quick to reply and opined that the conditions were not as challenging when he performed well.
"3 of those countries you get no seam movement, everything gun barrel straight but your assessment will be better seeing you’ve seen more of him than I have,” Gibbs tweeted.

England look to topple India in third Test
Speaking of England’s current assignments, the side is currently facing off against India in a five-game Test series. The clashes began with both sides locking horns in Hyderabad for the first Test. Led by Ben Stokes, England managed to register a historic win in the first Test after a brilliant performance.
However, the Indian team pulled it right back in the second Test and registered a dominant win to level the series. With two clashes done and dusted, India and England will now face off in the third Test at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot from February 15, and having levelled the series, both sides will look to gain the lead in the upcoming game.
