'He’s treasure. Period' - RCB take subtle dig at Murali Kartik's "trash" remark on Yash Dayal
Yash Dayal was released by Gujarat Titans last year and the left-arm pacer was subsequently roped in by Royal Challengers Bengaluru for INR 5 crore.
Cricketer-turned-commentator Murali Kartik has been facing criticism after he peculiarly praised Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) pacer Yash Dayal for his performance against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Monday, March 25 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Dayal made his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut in the 2022 edition of the tournament for the Gujarat Titans. He did well in the opportunities he got and helped his team win the title in their maiden appearance. However, last year the left-arm seamer suffered a horrific thrashing at the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batter Rinku Singh in match No. 13. In the last over, Dayal was hit for five consecutive sixes by the diminutive batter as KKR won the thrilling clash by three wickets. Ahead of the 2024 IPL auction, the Titans released him and he was roped in by RCB for INR 5 crore.
Dayal made his debut for the Bengaluru-based franchise on Friday, March 22 in the season opener against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He conceded 28 runs in three overs and picked up the wicket of Ruturaj Gaikwad. On Monday, Dayal bowled a terrific spell against Punjab Kings (PBKS) that received praise from fans and experts alike. In his four overs, the 26-year-old conceded just 23 runs and took a wicket as well.
Kartik was on commentary when Dayal was bowling at full tilt. The former India spinner said on air, "Someone's trash is someone's treasure." This comment drew Karthik flak from the RCB faithful.

'He's treasure. Period' - RCB responds to Murali Kartik's comments
RCB's popular YouTuber and comedian Danish Sait, who plays the role of 'Mr Nags', lambasted Kartik for his comments via a social media post.
"How do you say someone’s trash is someone’s treasure? You just called Yash Dayal Trash on air! Like what even?" Sait wrote on his 'X' handle.
Meanwhile, the Faf du Plessis-led franchise also took a subtle dig at Kartik with a cheeky post. They uploaded a picture of Dayal and wrote: "He’s treasure. Period."
The left-arm pacer conceded just 10 runs in his first three overs at one of the toughest venues in India for a bowler. His last over went for 13 runs but he managed to pick up the important wicket of Curran with a sharp bouncer.
