Pakistan vs New Zealand ODI series finally came to an end after the visitors bagged the final game to salvage pride after losing the series earlier. Pakistan clinched the series 4-1 as they went on to win the first four ODIs straight on home soil. However, New Zealand tried their best in the final game and won the clash by 47 runs where Tom Latham and Will Young produced fine shows from the bat while Henry Shipley wreaked havoc with the ball.

Talking about the same, Pakistan batter Iftikhar Ahmed took to his Twitter to apologize as the home team couldn’t land on the winning side. Ahmed, who was vital in Pakistan’s chase in the final game, said they should’ve ended on the right side but couldn’t. However, he stated that he is enjoying his cricket and is thankful for being back in the ODI arena.

I am sorry Pakistan. We should’ve ended on the right side of the match, but it wasn’t to be. Nevertheless, I am enjoying my cricket and thankful for the return to ODI arena. #IftiMania,” tweeted Ahmed.

As Pakistan batted second in the final game, Ahmed went on to play a scintillating knock of 94 off 72 and remained unbeaten till the end. However, he couldn’t get any support from the other end and the hosts lost the match by getting wrapped up on 252 runs in the 47th over.

Batting first, New Zealand put on a challenging target of 300 runs on the board where Young’s 87 at the top and skipper Latham’s 59 in the middle turned vital. Shaheen Afridi picked three wickets in the game while Henry Shipley and Rachin Ravindra got three wickets each from the visiting party. Earlier, the two teams also played a five-match T20I series which didn’t produce any results as it got tied at 2-2.
