India and Bangladesh commence their respective Champions Trophy 2025 campaigns taking on each other in second game at the Dubai International Stadium on February 20. One key player, who was missing in India’s playing XI at the ICC events for the first time since 2022 T20 World Cup is Jasprit Bumrah. Ahead of the game, Bangladesh batter, Mehidy Hasan Miraz breathed a sigh of relief over star India pacer’s unavailability.

Speaking to Sanjana Ganesan, television presenter, also Bumrah’s wife, Mehidy revealed that the right-arm pacer has got him out twice. He reasoned the same and was relieved not to face him in the ongoing ICC event. Sanjana also provided an update on Ahmedabad-born cricketer’s condition during the interview.

“He is a very different bowler and very dangerous, uff! He is not coming here. We are very happy! He is very dangerous. Everybody respects him. Every batter. I got out against him two times. He has improved a lot. He bowls both ways. How is he? Is he okay?,”  Miraz said in the ICC interview.

“He is okay. He is training at the NCA,” said Sanjana.

Bumrah training at NCA with physios

Bumrah got his back injured during the final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. He never appeared for India since then and was eventually ruled out of Champions Trophy 2025. Bumrah has begun light gym work and skill-based rehabilitation under a dedicated National Cricket Academy (NCA) team comprising strength coach Rajnikanth Sivagnanam, physio Thulasi Ram Yuvraj, and sports science head Dr. Nitin Patel.
