Mohammed Siraj delivered a stellar performance against his former franchise, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), to guide Gujarat Titans (GT) to a comfortable eight-wicket victory in their IPL 2025 clash on Wednesday, April 02. His match-winning spell of 3/19 not only dismantled RCB's top order but also earned him the Player of the Match award.

GT assistant coach Parthiv Patel was full of praise for the pacer, pointing out his crucial role in the team's victory.  Before joining the Titans in 2025, Siraj represented RCB for seven years and is also their third-highest wicket-taker. However, the Bengaluru-based franchise decided to release him ahead of the mega auction. His return to face his old team was highly awaited, and Siraj did not disappoint, producing one of the finest spells under pressure.

Notably, Patel also recreated Siraj's iconic line for Jasprit Bumrah in the 2024 T20 World Cup final, “It was important to bowl that last 19th over well. That is something which you did brilliantly. Well done, I only believe in match-winner Mohammed Siraj," he said in a video posted by GT on social media.

The pacer's victims included Devdutt Padikkal, who was dismissed with a sharp delivery that rattled the stumps. He followed it with another wicket off Phil Salt. The fiery pacer continued his onslaught in the middle overs. He ended his spell by removing the dangerous Liam Livingstone and ensured RCB could only post 169/8 in 20 overs.

Following the match, the former India cricketer did not hold back his praise for Siraj. In a dressing room conversation, he mentioned Siraj’s skills with the ball, particularly in the early overs and at the death.

“Ashu Pa (Ashish Nehra, the head coach) spoke about being attacking from ball and over number one. That is exactly what you did. You led the way. Brilliant first over and then followed it up well," the former Gujarat wicketkeeper-batter addressed further.
