'I'll have to sit with secretary to discuss about guidelines' - Rohit Sharma's remark to Ajit Agarkar caught on mic during press conference
Rohit Sharma told BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar that he wants to discuss the new guidelines regarding restrictions on family members on tours with secretary Devajit Saikia.
India captain Rohit Sharma told BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar that he wants to discuss the new guidelines regarding restrictions on family members on tours with secretary Devajit Saikia. Rohit and Agarkar attended a press conference on Saturday, January 18, where they announced India's squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy and answered questions from the media.
During the press conference, Rohit told Agarkar about his intentions. The former India pacer didn't comment as he heard the legendary batter's words with a poker face.
"Ab mere ko baithna padega secretary ke saath family ka discuss karne ke liye, sab mere ko bol rahe hai (I'll have to sit with the secretary to discuss about the family. Everyone is asking me)," Rohit said.
It seemed that the 37-year-old didn't want this conversation to be heard. However, unfortunately for him, the mics were loud enough.

For the unversed, the BCCI issued a 10-point diktat for the Indian team after the humiliating Test series defeats to New Zealand and Australia. One of the key points mentioned was that "Players absent from India for more than 45 days during overseas tours can be joined by their partners and children (under 18) for one visit per series (format-wise) of up to a two-week period."
It seems that the Indian players are not too pleased with this order, and they want to express their problems to the secretary through their captain. India's next assignment is the five-match T20I series against England, which begins on January 22. This will be followed by a three-match ODI series which precedes the all-important Champions Trophy in Pakistan and the UAE.
India squad for Champions Trophy and England ODI series: Rohit Sharma (c), Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill (vc), Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah*, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, and Ravindra Jadeja
NOTE: Jasprit Bumrah's inclusion is subject to fitness; Harshit Rana will travel with the team as Reserve Player.
