‘Imagine a Pakistani bowler doing that to Kohli’ – Aakash Chopra slams Suyash Sharma for denying Yashasvi Jaiswal a century
Jaiswal’s fabulous innings featured five maximums and 12 fours at a stunning strike rate of 208.51.
Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra was left infuriated after Rajasthan Royals (RR) batter Yashasvi Jaiswal was denied his century by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) spinner Suyash Sharma. Notably, Jaiswal’s unbeaten 98 off mere 47 balls steered the side to clinch the crucial two points at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata in the 56th game of the IPL 2023.
In the midst of the chase, Jaiswal broke the record of the fastest half-century in the IPL as he notched it in just 13 balls and was well on course to attain his second century of the season. However, one such incident that garnered attention for all wrong reasons was that of KKR spinner Suyash making an attempt to deny the flamboyant Royals opener his century in the match.
With just four required to win the contest, Suyash bowled a wide which made it challenging for the batter to get his second ton as he was on 94*. The explosive hitter could only manage to score a boundary, concluding his innings with two runs short of his century. On that note, cricketer-turned-broadcaster Aakash lashed out at Suyash for denying the batter a triple-digit score, calling it ‘poor tase’.
“Trying to bowl a wide to prevent Yashasvi from getting to his 100….poor taste IMHO,” Aakash tweeted.
In another tweet, he further cited Virat Kohli’s example if a Pakistani bowler had attempted to do a similar act, shutting down critics who backed the KKR spinner.
“Imagine a Pakistan bowler doing that to prevent Kohli from getting to his century. The same people who are giving gyan on how it’s absolutely okay…and that it wasn’t deliberate…will ensure that that bowler starts trending in minutes. Trolling level hi alag hota tab. Typical Twitter behaviour IMO,” he added.
Speaking about his blitzkrieg, Jaiswal’s fabulous innings featured five maximums and 12 fours at a stunning strike rate of 208.51. In addition to this, he raised an unconquered stand with skipper Sanju Samson of 121 runs to clinch he two points. In doing so, the Royals leapfrogged to the third spot in the IPL Points Table with 12 points in 12 matches.
