Australia's Todd Murphy is enjoying a memorable debut Test against hosts India in Nagpur. The youngster who gave a few headaches to the Indian top order received a bit of punishment from Mohammed Shami after the lower-order batter smashed him for consecutive sixes in the morning session on Day 3.
The 22-year-old, who became the youngest Australian spinner to take a five-for on debut on the second day of the opening Test, added another feather to his cap after dismissing Ravindra Jadeja early on the third day. However, the young off-spinner took a bit of punishment after Mohammed Shami smacked him for consecutive sixes.
Shami, who is known for his haphazard approach at the crease, was dropped early in his innings by Scott Boland and made the Aussies pay with his trademark big hits. It was the 131st over of the Indian innings, when Shami took on the debutant, smashing him for a big six on the offside and following it with a big slog through the mid-wicket region.
🔥 SHAMI SPECIAL! That was entertaining while it lasted.

Murphy, however, had the last laugh as he dismissed the explosive batter in the very next over to claim his seventh wicket of the innings. It was another big slog from the Indian pacer, but this time he only managed a top edge, which was claimed by the wicketkeeper with ease. His entertaining innings had two fours and three sixes, adding an invaluable 37 runs to the Indian total.
Meanwhile, Pat Cummins' decision to stick with spin has drawn a fair bit of criticism as the experts felt that the visitors could've done with some pace, especially against the Indian lower-order batters. India wouldn't mind it though, as the pitch is showing signs of turn and bounce, which would delight their spin-bowling trio.
