IND vs AUS: Virat Kohli gives KS Bharat death stare for refusing single
Kohli also abused Bharat when he refused the single at the eleventh hour.
The fourth Test between India and Australia has been going on in full swing as the two teams are putting in all their efforts to win the game. While India aims to win the series 3-1 and make it to the World Test Championship final, Australia eye to level the series 2-2 so as to share the series.
Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja started India’s proceedings on Day 4. Jadeja was dismissed after he mistimed a shot, and KS Bharat joined Kohli early in the first session. In the 109th over of the game, confusion between the duo almost led to Kohli being run out. Kohli called for a single, but Bharat refused the run as Kohli had to rush back to his crease.
As Kohli went back to the striker’s end, he gave a death stare to wicketkeeper-batter Bharat while also abusing him out of anger. Kohli, who got to his half-century on the third day, was batting on 67* when the incident took place.

On the previous day (Day 3), Shubman Gill’s magnificent century kept India in a dominating position. Gill and Rohit started off the innings really well and stitched up a 74-run opening stand before the skipper was dismissed. The 113-run stand between Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara set the tone for India but the latter was dismissed off Todd Murphy’s delivery.
Prior to his 58-run partnership with Virat Kohli for the third wicket, Gill notched up his second Test ton and kept India in the driver’s seat before being dismissed. Jadeja’s time on the field was short termed as the all-rounder was dismissed scoring mere 28 runs off 84 deliveries. After playing defensive for a while, he looked to attack the bowlers but mistimed the shot and fell prey to Murphy as Khawaja caught the ball.
KS Bharat came in to bat early as Shreyas Iyer complained of pain in his lower back and had to go for scans following the end of Day 3. He is currently being monitored by the BCCI’s medical team and the Indian side would be hoping for him to come back fit into the game.
