IND vs BAN 2024: Washington Sundar pips Hardik Pandya to win fielder's medal
Washington Sundar contributed with the ball and in the field during the India versus Bangladesh T20I series.
Washington Sundar pipped Hardik Pandya and Riyan Parag to win the Impact Fielder of the series award after India's 3-0 whitewash in the three T20Is against Bangladesh. The Tamil Nadu all-rounder did nOt get an opportunity to show his worth as a batter but contributed to the team's cause with the ball and in the field across the three matches.
Fielding coach T Dilip lauded Sundar for cutting out angles in the outfield against the Najmul Hossain Shanto-led side. The 25-year-old picked up three catches during the series and also stopped a lot of runs in the outfield.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) posted a video of the dressing room ceremony on Sunday, October 13, a day after the team's resounding 133-run triumph against Bangladesh. The Indian team showed incredible energy in the field in all matches, with Pandya leading the way.
The fielding coach acknowledged Pandya's performance and compared him to a "Formula 1 car in top gear". He also lauded Parag for his energy. Dilip further praised the brotherhood in the Indian team, as they showed stunning support towards debutants like Mayank Yadav and Nitish Kumar Reddy.

Sundar was elated after receiving the coveted medal and he thanked Dilip and the entire support staff during his speech.
"This honestly feels amazing. I try and give my 100 percent whenever I am on the field. And everyone can contribute on the field, no matter what is the situation. Very very grateful for this, thanks to T Dilip sir and the entire support staff," Sundar said after the match.

Apart from his fielding performance, Sundar bowled with a lot of control and conceded runs at a miserly economy rate of just five. He also bagged three wickets at an average of 6.67.
