The much-awaited blockbuster clash between India and Pakistan got underway at the iconic MCG with around 1 lakh people witnessing the game. After opting to bowl first, Arshdeep Singh got India off to a flier dismissing both the openers Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan. However, Pakistan recovered significantly thanks to a partnership between Shan Masood and Iftikhar Ahmed.
But India hit back soon with wickets of the latter and Shadab Khan in quick succession. Meanwhile, Masood played second fiddle all this while and stayed away from the crease for close to three overs. Admittedly, he got frustrated and looked to attack Ravi Ashwin in the 15th over of the innings.
But the left-hander could only top edge an ugly heave and it could've been a possible catch for India. However, while in the air, the ball hit the spider cam only for the Indian fielders to leave bemused. As per the rule, the ball is deemed dead if it hits the spider cam.

In the meantime, Iftikhar Ahmed played a brilliant innings, scoring a vital half-century for Pakistan. He took on the left-arm spinner Axar Patel in his very first over slamming three maximums off him. The over must have given the much-needed momentum for Pakistan but Mohammed Shami delivered a killing blow pinning Iftikhar in front of the stumps.
That led to another collapse for the Men in Green as the likes of Shadab, Haider Ali, Mohammad Nawaz and Asif Ali all got out without adding much to the total.
