Gayle was named as the ambassador for the marquee event along with former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi and former India all-rounder, Yuvraj Singh

Gayle wasted no time as India captain Rohit Sharma entered the arena for a warm-up before the game and took his autograph on his specially made blazer. The Caribbean was seen wearing a white blazer that had Indian tri-colour printed on his left arm and Pakistan’s flag colour on the right. Sharma acknowledged the request and won the hearts of the fans by signing the T20 specialist’s blazer. Gayle then reached out to star India batter Virat Kohli and some other players from both teams who too did the honours. Besides, the Universe Boss also approached the Pakistan skipper Babar Azam and requested his autograph on his dazzling jacket to make the occasion perfect celebration of cricket for the two cricketing giants.

Pakistan’s backs are up against the wall: Gayle

Ahead of the traditional clash, Chris Gayle had pinned India as favourites to win the game. India have had an upper hand on their neighbours in the previous T20 World Cup encounters. Having faced each other six times, Pakistan have managed to sneak only one victory against India’s five. The former southpaw highlighted the very aspect to dominate the morale of Pakistan in the encounter.

"Their (Pakistan) backs are up against the wall and coming off a loss like that straight into playing a team like India, who traditionally have the upper hand in these games, is a huge challenge. India are in the driver's seat, definitely a more relaxed seat. But this is India versus Pakistan at a World Cup, so you can take nothing for granted," Gayle said in a video uploaded by ICC.

"As for Pakistan, they have no time to waste. They have to re-group for the biggest game of the tournament against India in New York City that's just got even bigger," the Universe Boss concluded.
