As it gets closer and closer to the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, Mohammed Siraj is certainly making it tough for the selectors to name a replacement for the injured Jasprit Bumrah. While not many expected Siraj to be in the mix again, the speedster has been quite impressive in the ongoing ODI series against South Africa and it won’t be a surprise if he gets on the flight to Australia for the ICC event.

Such has been his terrific spells and to his liking, Siraj set up South Africa opener Janneman Malan with a beauty of a delivery to dismiss him. The delivery before was a half volley and Malan creamed it through the cover's region in the eighth over of the innings. Siraj immediately changed his length and bowled a quick short delivery which was almost 145 Kmph clicks and it got big on the right-hander.

Malan tried to hook it for a six while the ball went straight into the hands of the deep square leg fielder, Avesh Khan who was placed exactly for the shot. Siraj’s plans was quite visible as he had come up with a similar approach in his previous over when he banged one straight after a full delivery. However, at that instance, Malan played the short ball comfortably with no fielder deep on the leg side area.

In his very next over, Siraj claimed the wicket of In-form batter Reeza Hendricks with yet another short delivery that cramped the batter for room.

Siraj has done everything that has been wanted of him so far in the three games so far from bowling the yorkers in the death overs to swinging it around with the new ball. He has got the pace to surprise the batters and his natural angle has troubled the batters. The 28-year-old seamer returned with figures of 3 for 38 in his 10 overs in the second ODI against South Africa.
