IND vs SA: Yuzvendra Chahal hilariously kicks Tabraiz Shamsi in the back during second T20I
Chahal and Shamsi share a very good friendship on and off the field
It was a memorable outing for Team India as the Men in Blue scripted history by defeating South Africa in a bilateral series at home for the first time in history. It was a batters’ paradise in the second T20I at Guwahati as a total of 458 runs were scored in 40 overs by the two teams, but in the end, the Men in Blue rejoiced with a win.
But during the game, the two teams faced a couple of hindrances. The game was first halted after a snake entered the stadium. The game was paused again for a while when the floodlights stopped working. Amidst the break, spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who had been benched in both the T20Is, hilariously walked towards Tabraiz Shamsi on the ground and jokingly kicked him on the back.
Shamsi had been on the ground talking to David Miller, Quinton De Kock and Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant during the break when Chahal walked towards the group and funnily kicked Shamsi. The video of the incident immediately went viral on social media.
India win a close contest to script history
Indian opening batters Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul played a crucial knock and posted shared a 96-run stand before Virat Kohli and middle-order batter Suryakumar Yadav took the game forward, thereby sharing a valiant 102-run partnership for the third wicket. Yadav’s unfortunate dismissal made way for Dinesh Karthik, who was promoted up the order, and he posted a quick-fire 17 runs off just seven deliveries. As a result of the power-hitting, India was able to post a mammoth total of 237/3.
Though the visitors had a poor start, Quinton de Kock and David Miller made sure that their side remains in the game, till the end. After losing three wickets, De Kock and Miller shared a thumping 174*-run stand for the fourth wicket, registering the highest-ever partnership against India in T20Is. Miller hit an unbeaten ton, and De Kock hit an unbeaten half-century, but their efforts went in vain as India managed to defend their score and win the game by 16 runs.
