India and the West Indies are set to face each other in a three-match ODI series at the BCA Cricket Stadium at Kotambi, near Vadodara (Baroda). The first ODI is being played on Sunday, December 22. The BCA Cricket Stadium is now the latest venue to host an international fixture in India.
Also known as the Kotambi Stadium, the venue has an impressive seating capacity of 40,000 spectators. During the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season, the Kotambi Stadium has hosted a few of Baroda's home games. The Group A clash between Baroda and Meghalaya was the first first-class fixture held at this venue.
Interestingly, Kotambi Stadium is reportedly in line to host a couple of Gujarat Titans' home matches in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. This is because their regular home ground - Narendra Modi Stadium - is set to host the second phase of the Women's Premier League (WPL) ahead of the IPL if reports are to be believed. Hosting a few games at the Kotambi Stadium will give the ground staff at the Narendra Modi Stadium sufficient time to prepare the colossal venue for the rigours of the IPL.

Smriti Mandhana extends purple patch into ODI cricket
Smriti Mandhana smashed three half-centuries in the three T20Is played between India and the West Indies earlier this month. She continued her purple patch in the first ODI as she notched up a half-century off just 62 balls.
Mandhana forged a stunning partnership of 110 runs with Pratika Rawal for the first wicket. The latter was dismissed for 40 off 69 balls in the 24th over, falling victim to West Indies captain Hayley Matthews. The West Indies lost the T20I series 1-2 and will look to make a mark in the ODI leg of the tour.
