‘India has just found its fastest bowler’ - Brett Lee passes verdict after Mayank Yadav’s heroics against PBKS

The recently concluded clash between Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings at the Ekana Stadium on March 30 saw yet another young Indian pacer rise. 21-year-old speedster Mayank Yadav terrorized Punjab Kings’ batting attack in the second innings of the clash. 

Taking three wickets and conceding 27 runs in four overs, Yadav’s spell helped Lucknow limit Punjab to 178 runs in the second innings, helping his side win the game by 21 runs. 

The youngster's performance heavily impressed former Australian pacer Brett Lee. The 47-year-old took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and opined that India has found its fastest bowler, heaping praise on the 21-year-old for his spell. “India has just found its fastest bowler. Mayank Yadav! Raw pace. Very impressive,” Brett Lee tweeted.

Furthermore, Brett Lee was not the only former legendary pacer that Mayank Yadav impressed with his performance against Punjab Kings. Former Proteas legend Dale Steyn took to X as well, heaping praise on Mayank Yadav for his fast deliveries in the 11th game of the IPL 2024. 

“155,8 KPH, Mayank Yadav, where have you been hiding!” Dale Steyn posted on X. The appreciation by Steyn would be extra special for Yadav as he recently came forward and revealed that he is a huge fan of the former Proteas speedster. 

“I look up to only one fast bowler, Dale Steyn, he is my idol,” Mayank Yadav was quoted as saying by the Hindustan Times. 

Yadav’s performance against Punjab Kings definitely caught the attention of world cricket, and many fans are waiting to see how the youngster performs in his upcoming games. With three wickets on his IPL debut, the sky is the limit for the 21-year-old.
