India vs Bangladesh 2024: Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli arrive in Chennai ahead of first Test
The first of the two Test matches between India and Bangladesh will be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Thursday, September 19.
Captain Rohit Sharma and star batter Virat Kohli arrived in Chennai ahead of India's first Test of a two-match series against Bangladesh, which begins on Thursday, September 19.
Kohli landed at the Chennai airport after taking a direct flight from London. The Delhi batter was in the England capital with his wife Anushka Sharma and kids Vamika and Akaay Kohli. He spent a much-needed quality time with his family outside the country as the Indian cricket team got a very rare and well-deserved break of 43 days.
Kohli will be playing red-ball cricket for the first time this year as he skipped the five-match Test series against England earlier this year due to personal reasons. The legendary batter announced his retirement from T20Is after helping India win the T20 World Cup in June. After winning the Player of the Match award in the final, Kohli returned to action in the ODI series against Sri Lanka last month but couldn't make much of an impact in difficult batting conditions. However, the former India captain will be eager to do well as India look to consolidate their position at the top of the World Test Championship (WTC) points table.

Rohit Sharma arrives in Chennai
Skipper Rohit is all set to lead the Indian team once again. He arrived in Chennai on Thursday, September 12. Team India will start their preparations at the M Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai from Friday onwards and will look to get into the groove ahead of the Test series.
Bangladesh are coming into the series on the back of a monumental first-ever series win against Pakistan. Najmul Hossain Shanto's side showed a lot of self-belief during their time in Rawalpindi and will now hope to give India a run for their money over the next few weeks.
