The 2023 edition of the ODI World Cup has been met with surreal enthusiasm from fans. The marquee event is being played exclusively in India for the first time and fans are immersed in the cricket fever.

The Indian Air Force also joined the party as they shared a bird's eye view of the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, on their official 'X' handle.

The post from IAF has gone viral in quick time, with a lot of fans commenting and reposting. The Indian Cricket Team is also doing very well in the early goings of the tournament and fans are waiting in anticipation of what could be India's third triumph in ODI World Cup history. Since the title-winning campaign in the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013, the 'Men in Blue' have been toppled in the knockout stages of various ICC events. Under Rohit Sharma's reign as captain, India lost the semi-finals of the 2022 T20 World Cup against England and the World Test Championship final versus Australia earlier this year.

India and New Zealand going strong, Sri Lanka staring down the barrel

India and New Zealand are the only two unbeaten teams in this year's competition thus far. The Kiwis have registered four wins in as many games, while India have won all three of their matches so far. England and Australia were considered among the favourites to make the semi-finals. However, they have had an indifferent start to their respective campaigns with one win from three games.

South Africa and Pakistan started strongly with two wins in their respective first two matches. However, their winning runs ended recently. Bangladesh also have one win from three games and they have not looked as confident a side as they generally are in sub-continental conditions.

However, it is the Sri Lankan side that has had the most worrying start to the showpiece event. The former champions were hit with several injuries leading up to the 10-team tournament and some key players like Wanindu Hasaranga and Dushmantha Chameera missed out on selection. Captain Dasun Shanaka was ruled out after playing the first two games with a right thigh injury.

The 'Lankan Lions' are currently languishing at the bottom of the table with three losses in as many games. Afghanistan are placed above them with a solitary win in four matches. However, their only win came against defending champions England and it gave the tournament its first major upset. The Netherlands also caused a huge upset when they beat South Africa in their most recent game.
